Happy I-Day!

It's the 15th of August! India turns 62 today. This is my I-Day special (which will probably be read by 1 person a week if I'm lucky, but what the heck.) Well in 62 years, we've come a long way. From a poor, battered collection of fragments of kingdoms and fiefs, to the largest democracy in the world, we have evolved at a rapid pace in the past decades. One heartening thing I've noticed in the past few years is a growing sense of pride in being Indian. upto 2007, I'd never seen people exchanging I-Day greetings. Independence Day was just another holiday. Now I actually see people bursting crackers on Indpendence Day, and shopping malls giving Independence Day special offers. People are finally shaking off the inferiority complex which the British imparted us, and now I observe they no longer feel ashamed to call themselves Indian.

Ofcourse, there will be a lot of SLIME in cyberspace. Anti-Indian NRI bloggers who bitch about India without knowing what they're talking about will use I-Day as an opportunity to drill their pathetic points, about how India is communal, casteist, poor and a "lose". They claim to be "patriotic", and that "they want to open the eyes of the people". They will accuse people like us, those with hope, about "stalling India's progress" by not "acknowledging" her problems. But the reality is that they're just low IQ imbeciles with too much time on their hands whose weekly source of entertainment is indulging in "relevant'' discussions about "Why India sucks'', all this in a booze induced stupor. When one argues with them, about what they're trying to do to make India "suck less", they just turn the other way. Dumbfucks.

I have taking such people seriously. And I suggest those, who are truly aware of the nation's difficulties, do the same. These persons are plain losers.

But celebrations are somewhat subdued. What with Dukkar Flu and the drought, many persons are in a sick situation. The spectre of drought brings with it a host of problems, all very grave. I just hope, that the political class, for once actually stops using it as a poll issue and does something about it.

As for myself, I have a cold, cough, slight fever, stomach ache, headache and don't feel like eating. Is it H1N1? Or is it my body telling me to stop screwing around online? I'll find the answer to that myself..... but I couldn't go for the flag-hoisting x-( And I got yet another C in Engineering Graphics. I'm sleep deprived, and disoriented, after a week of slogging in college for 10 hours straight, and enduring the commute in the cattle-trains. And I'm having a tough time making sense of Modern Physics. I don't see the point in teaching tripe like Quantum Mechanics and LASER physics in a chemical engineering course. Or am I plain dumb and it is actually relevant? Or should I just stop making such idiotic & sanctimonious comments and do what I'm told? Haha, by now you've realized I don't have anything else to write about. So I'll stop here and spare you any more torture.

Jai Hind.

  1. Too bad you won't even have a computer had the British not colonized your morally bankrupt jungle.

The Brits broke the caste system, built myriad schools, introduced western science and the industrial revolution to the east. There is not a single word in the English language which would not be a horrendous understatement of your stupendous idiocy. European colonization laid the foundations of modern day society (ironically you mentioned quantum mechanics, in which Paul Dirac, a Brit, made immeasurable strides); and had it not happened, India would look like a staged version of Jungle Book, strangled by the shackles of the traditional caste system, SATI, regional caste conflagrations, and superstitious and non-industrial by constitution. (Wanna live without electricity, cricket, and bollywood? All derived from the west).

Fiendish fools like you are socially presidposed to bigoted jingoism.

Or it could all be genetic: may be your entire lineage is "socially retarded"!

  2. Dude, you are running out of words look like.:D
Thanks for commenting anyway, I get an idea about how important expressions like "fiendish fools" and "There is no word in the dictionary which would not be a horrendous...."(14th time I'm hearing that) are so important in your clearly limited vocabulary and in your "retarded" mindset.
Go get a life man! I know you are a vella, a jobless. Know why? Because you have so much time you read my blog!!!

  3. Why don't you employ proper logic and discourse and convince me why I am wrong about British imperialism--even though I admit that the invasions had their flaws as well--rather than resorting to puny ad hominems?

  4. Because you don't want to debate decently my friend. All you are here for is to vent your frustration. Let's assume I offer an opposing view. Will you acknowledge? No. You'll likely bang away another personal insulting comment like the above, with allegations of "jingoism". Your views are distressingly polarized. And that is why you can't comprehend that there is no "right" or "wrong" here. Just opinions.

Anyway, only because you asked, here's why I think we're happier without the British. (I am NOT anti-British. Not once did I make a single remotely jingoistic statement. That charge is demeaning.Let's just say I'm relieved to be free of them)
1)Yes, British "colonization" did expose us to Western values and ushered a social revolution, but the the major pioneers of the social renaissance were educated Indians, and not the British.
2)British imperialism imparted to us an acute inferiority complex. We have been so used to being told we aren't good enough we actually get misled into believing it's true. The result: Unreasonable hatred and disdain towards our country. What we call SLIME(Self-Loathing Indian Mentality). You are the biggest example I've come across so far in my short life. And the worst part is, we're so lethargic is that ranting is all that we do. I mean, just look at you! That also, I believe, is a result of being dominated by the British for over 2 centuries. Now recent economic progress has led to this feeling becoming virtually non-existent among us, i.e. the post-1990 generation.
3)As for electricity, transport, industries, etc. the British had their own selfish interests. That we "benefitted" was purely by chance. Do you really think they'd have allowed us to use their trains or their electricity if it were in their hands?
4)The British milked us dry. We all know about their economic policies and how it lead to the drain of wealth and badly damaged the Indian agricultural system. It was one of the biggest reasons for the rise in poverty in the 19th century , the shackles of which we still haven't been able to break.
5)Staged version of the jungle book? Dude, India was one of the world's most prosperous places back then. Why else do you think the British "colonized" us . Mind you, we weren't exactly imbeciles who roamed half-naked in jungles. India/Indian society was essentially affluent and prosperous until the British arrived. Just that "India" simply did not exist back then. They capitalized on the instability and our disunity, which is but natural. I'm not blaming the British. You think anyone would have his/her scruples come in the way of controlling and gaining access to the wealth of what was probably the most prosperous part of the world? No. If I were British, I'd have done the same. I'm just glad they're gone, that's all. I'm not insulting or abusing anything British. Nothing jingoistic as you suggested in your ignorance...
6)One thing I really HATE the British for: Partition and the ensuing horrors. Their disgusting "Divide and Rule" policy. Their savagery and utter disregard for Indian lives. That was immoral. Barbaric.

So here's why I think you're "wrong". I don't hate the British. I'm just GRATEFUL and RELIEVED that we're our own masters. You can keep gerrymandering facts to suit your imperialistic mindset and support your theory that "Indians are beasts who need forceful handling by the British or whatever bullshit you write, but as an Indian, and as someone who grew up in 21st century India, I'm happy.

Anyway, I have college tomorrow. So stopping it here.

  5. Point 2 is partially correct; Point 3, absolutely; the rest, thwarted opinions, misinformation!

    Overall: D

I am no Anglophile. I could not care less about the British. In fact, this century might be the one in which we would see the demise of secular Britain: radical Islam is taking over!

My fervent critique of India emanates from my integration into American society, and it has nothing to do with the British invasions.

I would call the British invasions the "necessary evil." Nothing could be more vile than the traditional Hindu caste system and other primitive practices of conservative Hindus. The Brits outlawed those practices, made everyone seek education, before which only Brahmins could do so, and introduced western style social organization--the court of law, democracy, city planning, the university system for all castes, and humongous hospitals--which would eventually metamorphose India. On the flip side, the Brits also instilled an inferiority complex into Indian culture, which is conspicuous even in modern times.

  6. 1) I don't care whether you're an anglophile or an indophobe. I was merely responding to your allegation of jingoism.
    "thwarted opinions, misinformation!"
    2) Again, you don't seem to realize that there is no correct or wrong here.
    3) You have your opinion, I have mine. I don't agree with yours, and nor do you with mine. If you have an argument, there are much more decent ways to put it forward.
4)I'm happy in India. You clearly don't like us and I suppose you're happily "integrated" into US society. The US is a great place, man. Why don't you take advantage of your "integratedness" and enjoy yourself? Why do you have to come and sling mud on an 18-year-old's personal space just for the sake of it.
    5) As for that grade, you could give me a T(Harry Potter?) for all I care.

Anyway, there is a lot of things I don't agree with you on. But I am not going to contradict you because they're your opinions I acknowledge them.
Thanks for your illuminating comments :|
